HANGZHOU, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Express delivery enterprises in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang Province, resumed operation in full gear from Monday in an effort to satisfy local people's increasing demand for online consumption amid the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak.
He Lianzhong, head of Hangzhou Municipal Postal Administration, noted that during the Spring Festival Holidays this year, Hangzhou saw a 2.7-fold increase in package volumes, compared with the previous Spring Festival.
In a bid to guaranttee health security of delivery men and consumers amid the epidemic, Hangzhou encouraged using intelligent cabinets as more as possible to deliver packages.
According to He, about 300,000 parcels were delivered per day during the holidays in the city, and one sixth of the parcels were delivered through intelligent cabinets.
Besides, efforts will be made to meet the needs of local people's basic living and ensure the smooth and effective delivery of domestic and international anti-epidemic materials for epidemic control after parcel-delivery companies resumed work.
