Foxconn Technology Group, the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer and a key Apple supplier, said its facilities in the Chinese mainland will resume production next Monday, due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Foxconn said in a statement that protecting the safety of employees is one of the most important tasks of the company. It has decided that all workers who have come back to Taiwan from the Chinese mainland should postpone their plans to return to the mainland and work in Taiwan instead, while the employees returning from Wuhan to Taiwan should stay at home for quarantine and do not need to work.
Foxconn, formally known as Hon Hai Precision Industry Co, has major production bases in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, and Zhengzhou, Henan province. "We have measures in place to ensure that we can continue to meet all global manufacturing obligations," it said.
"Having previously dealt with SARS, Foxconn has a good understanding of how to care for our employees' health and how we will need to allocate resources in the manufacturing and production departments to ensure that the company is able to address the needs of both our employees and customers."
