Consumer prices in Germany rose by 1.4 percent on the year in 2019, government data showed, as falling prices for heating oil and motor fuels put the brakes on inflation.
The Federal Statistics Office (Destatis) announced on Thursday the annual inflation rate, which was at a three-year low.
Inflation stood at 1.8 percent in Germany in 2018, by comparison.
In December, consumer prices went up by 0.5 percent on the previous month, Destatis said.
