BEIJING, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Ruili Port at the China-Myanmar border saw more than 20.63 million travelers in 2019, accounting for almost half of the travelers passing through the border inspection of Yunnan Province, according to the local immigration inspection authority.
Thanks to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), economic and trade exchanges between China and Myanmar have achieved rapid growth, driving development of the border tourism.
Ruili in southwest China's Yunnan Province has become the country's famous border trade and border tourism city. Ruili Port is currently the port with the largest flow of people, vehicles and cargo among the China-Myanmar border ports.
According to China's Ministry of Commerce, China-Myanmar trade volume stood at 13.54 billion U.S. dollars in the first nine months of 2019, up 17.9 percent year on year.
Specifically, China's exports to Myanmar amounted to 8.87 billion U.S. dollars during the period, up 11.6 percent and its imports from Myanmar stood at 4.67 billion U.S. dollars, up 32 percent year on year. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
