BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. is expected to put into use its new energy vehicle (NEV) factory soon in Shunyi District of Beijing, a local newspaper reported on Wednesday.
The factory can produce both Mercedes-Benz's high-profile pure electric vehicle EQC, and GLB, a new generation of high-end vehicles, said a staff of the factory, adding that the general assembly workshop covers an area of 161,000 square meters and has 9 main lines, after expansion.
It is estimated that the output value of the factory will reach 10 billion yuan in 2020.
The factory, located in Zhaoquanying Town, Shunyi, is a global benchmarking factory built with the standards of "Daimler Factory56".
According to the staff, the general assembly workshop has assembled the world's leading "intelligent, digital, flexible, and green" new energy vehicle production technologies, with an automation rate of 90 percent.
Beijing Benz Automotive Co. is a joint venture between BAIC Motor and Daimler.
The intelligent NEV industry is one of the leading industries in Shunyi District. As a demonstration area of Beijing's innovation industries, it has gradually formed an industrial ecology led by R&D and design, based on finished automobile and core component manufacturing.
