China National Salt Industry Group (CNSIG), the leading and the only state-owned enterprise of China's salt industry, will keep innovating itself so as to better serve Chinese consumers and make new contributions to the national economy, Li Yaoqiang, chairman of the CNSIG said in an interview during the 2019 Boao Forum of Chinese Entrepreneurs.
The innovation of CNSIG is, first of all, reflected in its efforts to redefine industry value. The group has maintained salt caverns and conducted research on the storage of natural gas. It will explore the use of salt caverns for energy storage and power generation to help develop new energy sources, according to Li.
The group also makes innovation in delivering the health value of salt. It will continue to develop low-sodium salt, while at the same time try to add beneficial microelements to salt to make it healthier for people.
