PRAGUE, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- An expert delegation on Chinese Acupuncture visited Prague on Monday, discussing development of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with their Czech counterparts and promoting TCM knowledges to Czech people.
Their visit to Prague is part of the Belt and Road Tour on TCM Acupuncture-Moxibustion sponsored by the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS), on the occasion of the sixth World Acupuncture Week, which falls on Nov. 16-22.
Jan Hovorka, president of the Endowment Fund for Support of TCM and Alternatives, who is also the co-organizer of the event, said his fund has always aimed to make TCM better accepted in the Czech Republic through activities like seminars, exhibitions, and medical consultations.
Zhang Jianmin, Chinese Ambassador to the Czech Republic, said that he hopes the medical practitioners in the two countries could cooperate more and join hands in bringing health and happiness to the peoples of the two countries.
Liu Baoyan, president of the WFAS, said that acupuncture-moxibustion, as a safe and healthy treatment method, has been widely used in a lot of countries for many kinds of diseases, and the effectiveness are being proved with various scientific methods.
After the seminar, some local residents consulted with experts about their health concerns and problems.
WFAS was established in 1987. It now has 226 group members in 60 countries and regions.
