As of the first half of 2019, China's total turnover of contracted projects in the UAE has reached 29.7 billion U.S. dollars. Chinese enterprises entered the UAE market in the early 1980s to undertake projects. In recent years, with the continuous development of China-UAE relations and the high-quality development of China's foreign contracted projects, Chinese enterprises have completed a number of key projects. For example, Harbin Electric International Co., Ltd. undertook the construction of 4x600MW Hassyan clean coal power project in Dubai, CNPC Greatwall Drilling Co., Ltd. undertook the construction of UAE drilling and workover project, and China State Construction Engineering Corporation undertook the construction of Dubai Silicon Oasis project.
According to statistics, the market share of foreign contractors in the UAE is as high as 70 percent, which reflects that the UAE provides an open and competitive environment for foreign investors. As the UAE has put forward "Vision 2021" and "UAE Centennial 2071" and will host the Expo 2020 Dubai, it is expected that there will be a large number of government infrastructure projects inviting bids in the UAE in the short, medium and long term.
