On July 5, GAC released production and sales data of June. According to it, in the first half of the year, GAC’s production and sales achieved growth compared both with the previous month and the same period a year before.
In June, GAC produced 195,300 vehicles and sold 178,900 vehicles. From January to June, the cumulative car production and sales exceeded 1 million units respectively. GAC Honda, GAC Toyota, GAC Motor and GAC Mitsubishi continued to grow. Sales of GAC Toyota and GAC Mitsubishi even achieved double-digit growth, and cumulative sales of GAC Toyota were increased by 16.37%. The year-on-year sales growth of GAC Mitsubishi was the most significant, reaching 38.64%. At the same time, the performance of commercial vehicle business was eye-catching. A rapid growth momentum was maintained by GAC Hino, with its sales reaching 2,452 units, a year-on-year increase of 213.15%.
GAC has been continuously researching and developing new energy vehicles for nearly 10 years, and has achieved remarkable results. In 2017, it successively launched GA3S PHEV, GS4 PHEV and pure electric SUV GE3, and introduced proprietary new energy vehicles and technologies into its joint ventures. With the gradual release of the potential of China’s new energy vehicles and GAC’s continued efforts, its NEV sales gradually increased throughout the year. Sales exceeded 1,500 units in June, an increase of 19.7% over the previous month. It is worth mentioning that the sales of Qizhi PHEV introduced from GAC to GAC Mitsubishi was good. Its sales from January to June accounted for 18.4% of the Group’s NEV sales. Next, GAC will continue to enhance the competitiveness of its own brand products, including new energy products. It is estimated that by 2019-2020, two newly designed models of pure electric vehicle based on new platform with a range of more than 500 kilometers will be launched every year.
From January to June, driven by such models as Camry, Levin/Levin HEV, Crider, Odyssey, and Trumpchi GM8, GAC’s sedan sales achieved double-digit growth and sales of MPV doubled, both higher than the industry average. The proportion of sedans has gradually increased, and that of models in various segments has become more balanced.
In June, 7 models of GAC were sold more than 10,000 units respectively. Four of them are from GAC Honda. Growth of such models as Fit, Camry, Outlander, Accord, Crider and GM8 increased significantly. Fit's sales in June reached 14,294 units, a year-on-year increase of 58.5%; Camry’s sales 14,035 units (hybrid models excluded), a year-on-year increase of 57.7%, and Outlander’s sales 9,956 units, a year-on-year increase of 41.7%. Accord's sales rebounded rapidly. In June, its sales reached 14,228 units (hybrid models excluded), a year-on-year growth of 24%. The sales of Trumpchi GM8 reached a new level, with monthly sales up to 4,005 units, an increase of nearly 24%.
“Crafted by the driven”, GAC insists on providing first-class products and better services to customers with craftsmanship. According to 2018 China Automotive Sales Satisfaction Study (SSI) report released in June, GAC Honda ranked the third among the 72 car brands surveyed with a score of 674 points; with its superior quality and professional services, GAC Trumpchi got a score of 653 points, and won the first prize among the Chinese self-owned brands. It’s the second time that GAC Trumpchi won such honor since 2017.
With the launch of the all-new Trumpchi GS4, GAC Honda 2018 CITY and GAC Toyota C-HR in June, and the launch of GAC Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross in the second half of 2018, we have good reasons to believe that sales of GAC will continue to rise. GAC will continue to focus on quality and efficiency and stay firm in independent innovation and joint venture cooperation.
