BEIJING, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Wholesale prices of China's agricultural products grew Tuesday, according to a report released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
By 2 p.m., the agricultural product wholesale price index stood at 116.72, up 0.88 points from the previous day.
The average wholesale price of pork grew 3.6 percent from the previous day to 49.20 yuan (about 6.96 U.S. dollars) per kg, while that of eggs gained 1 percent to 11.16 yuan per kg.
Average price of 28 types of vegetables monitored by the government grew 1.3 percent to 3.84 yuan per kg, while that of six types of fruits gained 1.6 percent to 5.17 yuan per kg.
The index is compiled from data collected from around 200 agricultural wholesale markets and is updated daily based on the weighted average of price indices for goods including vegetables, fruit, aquatic products, livestock products, cereals and edible vegetable oil.
