URUMQI, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) – A total of 10,412 China-Europe freight trains have passed through Alashankou pass in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region since the first train via the pass was launched in 2011, data from the local customs showed recently.
Bordering with Kazakhstan, Alashankou pass is the biggest inland port in northwestern China, with a total of 14 freight train railway routes available at the pass, connecting China with the countries such as Germany, Poland and Russia.
The expanding operations of the freight train at Alashankou pass also bring the category of commodities transported by the train up to 200 types, covering a more comprehensive range of goods from electronic devices to foods and beverages.
Thanks to the local custom's support, the freight train operators can complete the customs clearance within 30 minutes, while the reloading time for the whole train can finish within six hours, according to the staff from the local customs.
The freight train also cooperated with SF Express, China's leading logistic operator, and Cainiao Network under China's e-commerce giant Alibaba, to develop specialized e-commerce trains for strengthening its international transportation capability. (Edited by Jiang Feifan)
