BEIJING, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- The ongoing 6th China Silk Road International Logistics Expo has again put Lianyungang under spotlight, with the east China host city showing its efforts towards a Belt and Road hub.
Themed on “Drawing Up A New Blueprint of Intermodal Transport Corridor and Sharing New Opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative”, the expo has some 600 companies from 33 countries and regions gathered for exhibition and witnessed 24.4-billion-yuan worth of projects inked at the opening ceremony.
As the east starting point of the New Eurasian Land Bridge (NELB), Lianyungang is gaining new impetus from the Belt and Road Initiative, boasting intermodal transportation of deep-water harbor, ocean routes, China-Europe Railway Express, and logistics terminal.
In this August, Lianyungang was nodded as one of the three blocks of Jiangsu Pilot Free Trade Zone. As the only bonded area with a sea port, Lianyungang is gearing up as a transit trade hub between East and Central Asia. (By Niu Huizhe)
