InfoQuest (August 22, 2019) -- The export volume of cars recorded 82,151 units in July 2019, down 8.87 percent from the same period last year, according to Surapong Paisitpatnapong, vice chairman and spokesman of the Automotive Industry Club of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI). And exports saw a decline in all markets except in the Middle East and Europe. The auto export registered 40.33053 billion baht, down 19.14 percent from the same period last year. In the first seven months of this year (January-July 2019), the total export volume of vehicles was 642,012, down 1.55 percent compared with the same period last year, which reached 325.3473 billion baht, down 4.47 percent from the same period last year.
Domestic car sales in July 2019 reached 81,044, down 1.1 percent from the same month last year and 5.8 percent from June. In the first seven months of this year, domestic auto sales increased 5.9 percent year on year to 604,814.
Auto production in July 2019 realized 170,847 units, down 6.7 percent from the same period last year and 1.17 percent from June 2019. Exports of pickup trucks fell 11.42 percent, and production of passenger cars fell 18.59 percent. Car production in the first seven months of this year reached 494,326, accounting for 39.97 percent of the total, down 2.98 percent from the same period last year.
