BEIJING, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- The added value of sizable electronic information manufacturing firms with main business revenue of 20 million yuan and above rose 9.6 percent year on year in the first half of 2019, according to the announcement made by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Monday.
The growth rate was 2.8 percentage points lower than that in the same period of 2018. What's worth noting is that the added value of these enterprises witnessed an increase of 10.4 percent year on year in June.
The sizable electronic information manufacturing firms registered a year-on-year slump of 7.9 percent in profits in the January-June period, while their total operating income increased by 6.2 percent year on year, creating an operating profit margin of 3.8 percent. The fixed asset investment of these enterprises increased by 8.5 percent year on year, with the growth rate lowered by 11.2 percentage points from a year ago but 2.3 percentage points higher than that of the January-May period.
In terms of major industries, the added value of communications equipment and computer manufacturers increased 9.6 percent and 3.1 percent year on year respectively in the first half of 2019, the ministry said. Specifically, the mobile phone output decreased 6.9 percent on year, and that of smart phone down by 4.8 percent on year. The output of microcomputer equipment increased by 5.8 percent on year, and that of laptops up 3.2 percent and tablet computers hiking 30.9 percent on year.
In addition, the added value of electronic components and electronic materials manufacturers increased by 14.1 percent year on year, with the operating income up 1.4 percent and the profit down 8.5 percent on year.
