Tianjin enhances charging network for new energy cars

August 06, 2019

Abstract : Authorities in northern China's Tianjin Municipality have enhanced the local charging network to meet the demand of new energy cars.

TIANJIN, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Authorities in northern China's Tianjin Municipality have enhanced the local charging network to meet the demand of new energy cars.

So far, 43 high-speed charging stations featuring 191 charging poles have been built, according to the local State Grid Tianjin Electric Power Company.

The 13 major expressways crossing Tianjin have all been installed with charging poles, allowing drivers from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei to charge on-demand, the company said.

Statistics show that this year the average daily amount of electricity on Tianjin's high-speed charging stations was 2,300 kWh, a year-on-year increase of 201.44 percent. The Labor Day holiday saw a peak of charging.

Thanks to government policy support, China's new energy car sector has expanded robustly, with sales surging to more than 1.26 million units by the end of 2018 from fewer than 10,000 in 2009.
