BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhua) – China’s mobile phone shipments fell 5.1 percent year on year to 186 million units in the first half of 2019, according to a report released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT).
In the first half of this year, about 246 new models of mobile phones hit the shelves, down 38 percent from a year earlier.
According to the report, a total of 711 new types of mobile communications terminals were launched in the domestic market during the period, with mobile phones accounting for 34.6 percent.
The CAICT forecasted that the market will go through an adjustment period in which the shipment of 4G mobile phones will continue to shrank, while that of 5G mobile phones will maintain slow growth.
