July 29, 2019

Abstract : Beijing will have more than 8,000 5G base stations across the city by the end of this year, according to a post on Beijing’s official Twitter-like Weibo account.

BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhua) – China's capital city Beijing will have more than 8,000 5G base stations across the city by the end of this year, according to a post on Beijing’s official Twitter-like Weibo account.

The 5G network was expected to cover the area within the city’s Five Ring Road by the end of this year and in the next year, the city will step up efforts to extend 5G signal coverage to the key areas outside the Five Ring Road.

At present, the city has delivered overall 7,292 5G base stations to three telecommunications operators, covering the city’s urban core zones, venues for the 2022 Winter Olympics, the International Horticultural Exhibition, the new airport and other hot spots.

There are four types of 5G mobile phones planned to hit the market in August, according to Chinese retailer giants Suning.com and JD.com.
