NANJING, July 24 (Xinhua) -- East China's Jiangsu Province recorded a GDP growth of 6.5 percent in the first half of the year, totaling about 4.86 trillion yuan (706.1 billion U.S. dollars), the provincial bureau of statistics said Wednesday.
The province saw retail sales totaling 1.75 trillion yuan, up 7 percent year on year in the past six months. Its fixed-asset investment increased by 4.1 percent over the period.
The province's foreign trade grew by 1.3 percent to 2.07 trillion yuan. Its exports reached 1.29 trillion yuan, up 5.7 percent and its imports were 773.8 billion yuan, down 5.2 percent.
Jiangsu's trade with the European Union rose 8.6 percent and that with Belt and Road countries grew by 10.8 percent.
The per capita disposable income of residents in Jiangsu was 21,624 yuan, up 8.7 percent year on year. The province's consumer price also reported a moderate year-on-year growth of 2.5 percent.
