BEIJING, July 19 (Xinhua) -- China's electronic manufacturing and software sectors created more than 16 trillion yuan of revenue in 2018, showing an uptrend of industry development, said Wang Xudong, head of the China Information Technology Industry Federation (CITIF) at an industry conference held on Thursday.
In a breakdown, the revenue of electronic manufacturing industry was 10.6 trillion yuan, up 9.0 percent year on year, and that of software industry, 6.3 trillion yuan, up 14.2 percent year on year, according to Wang.
He revealed that from January to May, 2019, the added value of the electronic manufacturing industry increased by 9.4 percent, which was 3.4 percentage points higher than the industrial average, and the rapid development of the software industry continued as its revenue increased by 14.7 percent, which was 0.5 percentage points higher than the year-earlier period.
Although the progresses are delightful, it is worth noting that some deep-seated imbalances in these sectors are becoming more and more obvious, such as insufficient independent innovation capability, inadequate development of basic technologies, basic components and high-end key components, poor product quality and stability and lack of well-known brands, warned Wang.
Wang Xinzhe, an official at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), said that the ministry will improve public relations for core technologies, accelerate the construction of new generation information infrastructure, further promote the innovation and application of new generation information technology, deepen opening-up, and continuously optimize the business environment, so as to provide a strong guarantee for the development of electronic manufacturing and software industry in China.
