China hosts 3rd China-CEEC spokespersons dialogue

July 18, 2019

Abstract : Over two dozen spokespersons from China and central and eastern European countries gathered for a dialogue in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province Wednesday.

GUIYANG, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Over two dozen spokespersons from China and central and eastern European countries gathered for a dialogue in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province Wednesday.

Seventeen Chinese government spokespersons and 12 foreign spokespersons attended the Third China-CEEC (Central and Eastern European Countries) Spokespersons Dialogue.

China's government spokesperson system has promoted dialogue and exchange between China and the world, and played a positive role in helping the world understand China, said Guo Weimin, deputy chief of the State Council Information Office.

"In China and CEEC countries, the way spokespersons work and the roles they play are similar. We need to increase exchange, share experiences and boost cooperation," he said.

While noting that the development of information technology and new media has created new opportunities and challenges for the government spokesperson system, Guo called for new media and new technology to be used in advancing the system and deepening pragmatic cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

The China-CEEC cooperation mechanism has evolved and developed in recent years with enhanced exchange and friendship, said Sandris Sabajevs, press secretary of the prime minister of the Republic of Latvia.

The occasion is a good opportunity to explore mass communication and ensure trustworthy and timely mutual communication between the government and the people, he said.
