July 18, 2019

Abstract : Chinese government will increase policy support for 5G construction, establish laws and rules to help accelerate the integration of 5G application in multiple fields, and foster industry champions, reported the Xinhua-run newspaper Economic Information Daily.

BEIJING, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese government will increase policy support for 5G construction, establish laws and rules to help accelerate the integration of 5G application in multiple fields, and foster industry champions, reported the Xinhua-run newspaper Economic Information Daily.

At an industry summit held on  July 17-18 in Beijing, the reporter learnt that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) will soon issue laws and regulations to eliminate inter-industry barriers and promote the integrated development of 5G application, offering strong support in science and technology, finance, taxation, talents, and intellectual property rights.

As an important direction for the evolution and upgrading of the new generation of information and communication technologies, 5G is a driving force for realizing the key information infrastructure of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the digitalization of the economy and society, contributing to the country's Internet power and manufacturing power, said Chen Zhaoxiong, vice-minister of the MIIT.

Liu Duo, president of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), suggested that relevant departments should facilitate 5G application trials in industrial Internet, Internet of Vehicles, modern agriculture, and smart energy, so as to promote the upgrading of and intelligent transformation of traditional industries, and further deepen 5G application in public services such as education, medical care, and elderly care. In addition, she proposed to speed up the R&D and industrialization of 5G terminals, networks, platforms, and system integration, to develop and expand 5G industry clusters.
