BEIJING, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Amid the new landscape of big data development across China, South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is growing into a hot investment destination for big data investors.
During the Guangxi Big Data Industry Investment and Cooperation Fair held in Beijing recently, officials of Guangxi, enterprises, and experts exchanged their insights and views related to Guangxi's big data industry, seeking to build an ecosphere for the big data industry of Guangxi.
At the fair, 119 quality projects with strong market demand and good prospects have been officially released, involving investment amount as much as tens of billions of yuan and covering scores of industry segments, such as Beidou-powered intelligence and smart city.
Guangxi hopes to work together with big data enterprises worldwide to shape an ecological environment for a digital Guangxi, and develop these projects into signature ones in Guangxi's big data industry to achieve win-win cooperation, noted Xi Yang, deputy secretary-general of the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and director general of Big Data Development Bureau.
In 2018, Guangxi released Opinions on implementing big data strategy and accelerating the building of a digital Guangxi and 13 supporting documents, aiming to mobilize the whole region to shape a new digital hub for ASEAN-oriented opening-up and cooperation, and a key gateway for Digital Silk Road.
Meanwhile, Guangxi has introduced preferential policies in water, power, broadband rental, social insurance, house rent, enterprise establishment, investment and financing, and talent introduction, aiming to support the building of a digital Guangxi.
Guangxi is a key gateway for China to fully integrate with Belt and Road countries , and also the only province (autonomous region) in China connected with ASEAN via both land and marine passages.
Meanwhile, as a global leading supplier of ICT infrastructure, a terminal service provider, and a supplier of industrial digitalization capacity, Huawei has gained some strength in big data, 5G, AI, IoT, and other fields, noted Shi Yaohong, vice president of Huawei.
With 30 years of operation in Guangxi, Huawei has delivered a series of cooperation projects since the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Huawei signed a cooperation framework in 2018, and it has also made more comprehensive and in-depth efforts to allocate more of its advantageous resources and services to Guangxi, making remarkable progress.
To be specific, Huawei has helped Guangxi’s operators in building ICT network, empowering Guangxi in developing big data, as well as building of digital government for Guangxi.
Huawei has also invested extensively in digital industry upgrade, building Huawei's China-ASEAN AI innovation center, Nanning software innovation center, and Huawei intelligent ecological zone in Guilin, Qinzhou digital ecology town.
Guangxi will renew its efforts in offering services, build a more spacious, amazing stage for entrepreneurs, and create favorable conditions for them to take roots in Guangxi, to propel the sustainable development of Guangxi's big data industry. (Contributed by Wu Shuang, Edited by Jiang Feifan)
