BEIJING, July 1 (Xinhua) -- South China's Hainan province will ease restrictions on the qualification and quantity of applicants for new energy vehicle (NEV) license plate quota from July 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020, according to the province's public security authority.
The move aims to promote the development of NEVs, spark market consumption vitality, and meet public demand for buying cars.
Under the new policy, individuals whose household registration is outside Hainan or who have not got residence permit in the province or have not obtained driving license, as well as enterprises that have business registered in Hainan are all allowed to apply for NEV license plate quota during the period, not subject to the provincial regulation on controlling the number of vehicles.
