BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) – Hubei province has been deeply engaged in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), stated Jiang Chaoliang, party chief of the Central China province in a press conference of China’s State Council Information Office on Wednesday.
Hubei province actively promoted high-quality production capacities, equipments and technologies to go global, according to Jiang, secretary of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
The volume of contracted engineering projects along the Belt and Road grows rapidly, with completed turnover and newly signed contracts reaching 23.9 billion U.S. dollars and 42.3 billion U.S. dollars, Jiang revealed.
By leveraging its advantages of opening to the eastern region and exploring opportunities of opening to the western region, Hubei province has strengthened its strategic interaction with the development of Yangtze Economic Belt and Yangtze River Delta.
Hubei province has inked agreements on 90 projects on international production capacity cooperation, successfully launched the operation of the Sino-Russian Industrial and Trade Cooperation Zone, and accelerated the development of the China-Belgium Technology Center.
Besides, Hubei Free Trade Zone has achieved solid development.
By the end of 2018, 22,000 new enterprises had been set up in the zone. The single window system for international trade has been put into service in the China (Hubei) Pilot Free Trade Zone.
Foreign trade grew steadily in Hubei province. Date showed total import and export volume of Hubei province stood at 52.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2018. The actual use of foreign capital amounted to 11.94 billion U.S. dollars in 2018.
Moreover, outbound investment and international communication enhanced remarkably in Hubei province.
