HANGZHOU, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng has stressed solid efforts in China's building of an ecological civilization and contributing to global ecological security.
Han, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks Tuesday in Hangzhou, capital city of east China's Zhejiang Province, when addressing the 2019 annual meeting of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), of which he is chairperson.
China's building of an ecological civilization has entered a fast track and China will unswervingly implement the new mentality of green development to make new contributions to global ecological security, Han said.
Han stressed that China would establish a modern economic system guided by green development, accelerate the development of energy-saving and environment protection sectors, promote green energy and strive to win the battle against pollution to fulfill ecological environment protection targets by 2020.
China will enhance conservation of the ecological system, improve the ecological environment supervision system and better govern ecological environment in a market-oriented and legal-based manner, Han said.
He called for great efforts in hosting the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity next year, promoting the development of the International Coalition for Green Development on the Belt and Road and the ecological and environmental protection big data platform, and jointly implementing the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Han said the Chinese government highly recognized the great efforts of CCICED in promoting China's sustainable development and would continue to support the CCICED in playing its important roles.
