BEIJING, June 4 (Xinhua) – A folk customs and culture festival was kicked off in Nanling County of Wuhu City, East China’s Anhui Province, on Saturday to celebrate the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on the fifth day of the fifth month on Chinese lunar calendar.
The two-day culture festival attracted many tourists from all over the country. About 28 dragon boat teams, which were organized by local villagers, launched an excellent racing game to welcome the Dragon Boat Festival.
Multiple traditional forms of art, including dragon boat racing, dragon lantern dance and rice dumplings making, were on display during the culture festival.
Guided by the conviction that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, Nanling County strived to speed up the development of tourism in recent years.
Meanwhile, the county intensified its efforts to promote the traditional Chinese culture and showcase its folk customs in a bid to further enrich people's cultural life and rural civilization.
