BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) – 5G technology will become the new growth engine for China's digital economy, Economic Information Daily reported on Thursday.
According to the report, China's digital economy will get a boost from 5G development to surge by 15.2 trillion yuan from 2020 to 2025.
Wang Zhiqin, vice president of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, revealed that from 2020 to 2025, 5G will drive the information industry and traditional industries to grow by 3.3 trillion yuan and 11.9 trillion yuan, respectively.
At present, several provinces and cities including Beijing and Zhejiang, are mulling over a new blueprint for digital economy represented by the 5G industry in a bid to grab 5G opportunities to build a highland for digital economy development. (Edited by Yang Yifan, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
