BEIJING, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The Urumqi assembly center for China-Europe freight trains has celebrated its 3rd year anniversary of operation, dispatching 2,200 trains in total and growing its importance for serving the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
From one train every week in the past to current three trains every day, the increased efficiency and speed as well as the lower cost of the assembly center attracted more and more goods home and abroad, said Nan Jun, deputy general manager with Xinjiang Xintie international logistics company.
It is noted that the number of China-Europe freight train routes departed from the Urumqi assembly center has reached 21, reaching 26 cities of19 countries in Central Asia and Europe, and cooperating with more than 100 domestic import and export enterprises nationwide, carrying goods from more than 10 provinces and cities such as Guangzhou, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Shandong, Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing.
