Three companies based in Lisbon, London and Hamburg have won the inaugural "Future Hamburg Award" for up-and-coming start-ups. They will be supported with a tailored programme in the German city, Hamburg Marketing announced on Wednesday.
The municipal advertising company and the business promoters at Hamburg Invest created the award. Its expert jury was persuaded by the three companies' advanced business models, among other things. The award was presented during the Online Marketing Rockstars digital festival.
First place went to the Portuguese company Heptasense. It has developed a software for surveillance cameras that detects suspicious behaviour and does so without using facial recognition.
The Hamburg-based firm LignoPure came in second with its environmentally sustainable alternative to oil-based plastics. Third-place winner Humanising Autonomy from London provides a software meant to make self-driving cars safer by recognising and predicting human behaviour.
