BEIJING, May 13 (Xinhua) – China’s passenger vehicle sales continued contracting in April, industrial data showed.
Retail sales of China's passenger vehicles amounted to 1.508 million units in April, down 16.9 percent from the same period last year and a decline of 13.8 percent month on month, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

At the same time, the country, the world’s second-largest auto market, saw its new energy passenger vehicle sales in the first four months of this year fall 83.8 percent year on year to 345,000 units.
In April, the wholesale sales of new energy vehicles reached 910,000 units, down 17 percent month on month and a slump of 28.4 percent from the same period of last year.
The CPCA forecasted that the country’s auto market might remain relatively sluggish in May.
