BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) -- China will further reduce the number of coal mines with output capacity below 300,000 tonnes/year and cap the number below 800 by 2021 in a bid to accelerate phasing out obsolete capacities, according to a notice by National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
National Energy Administration, the NDRC, the National Coal Mine Safety Administration as well as other relevant authorities will further raise safety and environmental quality standards to speed up the closure and exit of coal mines that are not up to standards, according to the notice.
The notice said that China will attach great importance to the control of rock burst mines and minimize new-added ones. China will say no to new construct mines with first-level deep mining exceeding 1,000 meters, large and medium-sized upgraded mines with a depth of more than 1,200 meters, and new constructions (reconstruction and expansion) exceeding 600 meters.
