FRANKFURT, April 28 (Xinhua) -- The Nanchang Caicha (or tea picking) opera made its second stop of its Europe tour at the Theater Gemeinde in Germany on Friday night with the opera troupe from east China’s Jiangxi Province filling the theatre with rhythm and artistry of Chinese local opera.
The selection of classic pieces such as Butterfly Lovers (Liang-Zhu) and Wang Zhaojun got wide applauds from officials with Chinese consulate in Frankfurt, representatives with Nierstein city government, officials of French consulate in Frankfurt, official of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s office in Frankfurt as well as overseas Chinese and locals.
The Europe tour eyes for the spread of a modern cultural spirit beyond boundary limits that crosses time and space through a peak into Chinese history and folk stories, according to Wang Zhonghua, who heads the cultural tour, adding that the touring shows could act as “China-Europe culture train” to boost culture exchanges and dialogues.
The Caicha opera performance is beautiful, according to Claus Schick from Nierstein government, noting that the Rhine-Main region not only keeps close economic and trade relations with China, but is also fascinated by Chinese culture.
The touring show also facilitates Nanchang county, which breeds the Nanchang Caicha opera, in terms of overseas image promotion, and model for other Chinese cities in innovating “going-out” city branding, said Huang Yulong, legal representative with China book trading corporation under China International Publishing Group.
The Caicha opera troupe made its debut on April 24 in Prague Congress Centre, the Czech Republic, and is expected to make its next and final show in the Netherlands on April 29. (Contributed by Cui Lu, edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
