InfoQuest, (April 22, 2019) -- The export volume of cars recorded 117,708 units, the highest in 18 months, accounting for 113.36 percent of total export production, up 6.09 percent from the same month last year, which was mainly driven by the export increase in Asian, Middle East and European markets. And the export value reached 59,785,590,000 baht, up 1.46 percent from March 2018, according to Surapong Paisitpatnapong, vice chairman and spokesman of the Automotive Industry Club of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).
In the first quarter of 2019, the export volume of cars was 299,841 units, up 1.56 percent from the same period last year, with a value of 149,655,460,000 baht, down 2.32 percent from the same period last year.
March showed record high car production, achieving 198,821 units, which is the highest in 68 months. The export production of pickup-based vehicles increased by 1.04 percent, while production for domestic market jumped by 13.31 percent, up 8.6 percent from February 2019. The total production was 561,487 units in the first quarter of this year, up 4.04 percent from the same period last year.
