BEIJING, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Shenzhen plans to launch a few 5G phones in the second half this year and realize pre-commercial use by end of the year, according to Jia Xingdong, head of the Bureau of Industry and Information Technology of Shenzhen.
Shenzhen now leads the country even the world in terms of 5G development and it is only a matter of whether the city could get license from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for commercial use next year, Jia told the press during an event held on Tuesday in Shenzhen.
Shenzhen has basically met commercial use conditions technically except for networks and coverage, according to Jia. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
