SHANGHAI, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Licensed merchandise sales in China reached 85.6 billion yuan (12.7 billion U.S. dollars) in 2018, up 14.6 percent, according to a report.
By the end of 2018, 1,473 brands, from 32 countries and regions, have been licensed in China, up 42.7 percent year on year, according to the report issued by the China Toy and Juvenile Products Association.
There are 412 firms that have carried out brand licensing business in China by the end of 2018, up 26 percent year on year, the report says.
Many of the brands are related to movies and cartoons with products including toys, clothes, food, books and electronics.
People born between 1985 and 1995 make up 60 percent of consumers of licensed merchandise in China, the report says.
