BEIJING, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai is mulling guiding policies for advancing the replacement of fuel cars by new energy vehicles (NEVs) in public sectors such as bus, sanitation, postal, rental, commute and light logistics, said Shi Wenjun, deputy inspector with Shanghai municipal commission of economy and information technology.
Speaking at a government press conference held on Wednesday, Shi noted that Shanghai is actively battling against pollution with vehicle replacement work, progressing smoothly to promote vehicle consumption upgrading, energy saving and emission reduction.
Old vehicle elimination and replacement involves about 603,000 cars registered in Shanghai with emission condition at or below Guo III standard (Chinese classification of vehicle emission standard), according to Shi. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
