BEIJING, April 10 (Xinhua) -- China and Pakistan have made positive progress in negotiations on tariff concessions, investment, and cooperation between customs at the 11th meeting of the second phase negotiations of China-Pakistan free trade agreement (FTA) held on Tuesday in Beijing, according to China's Ministry of Commerce.
Pakistan is an important country along the Belt and Road (B&R) routes and a significant trade partner of China in South Asia.
The China-Pakistan FTA which was signed in 2006 and took effect in 2007 produced great results. The bilateral trade value between the two countries reached 19.08 billion U.S. dollars in 2018, jumping from 5.25 billion U.S. dollars in 2006.
China and Pakistan launched the FTA second phase negotiations in 2011 in a bid to further open up to each other. (Edited by Su Dan)
