BEIJING, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Retail industry organizations from over 20 countries, as well as executives from domestic and overseas chain store operators, will gather in Shanghai this month to explore innovative technology and business models in the sector.
Themed "Retail Returns to Essence, Tech Leads to Future," the China International Retail Innovation Summit is scheduled to be held from April 10 to 12, according to the China Chain Store & Franchise Association (CCFA), a co-sponsor of the event.
Chinese retailers have faced increasing uncertainty from reduced physical store traffic and slowing growth of online sales since 2018, while new opportunities have emerged from technology upgrading, digitalization and innovative business models such as social e-commerce and community group-buying, the CCFA said in a statement.
Participants will display advanced retail technology, share successful business models and explore the best practice in digitalization, it said.
A wide variety of topics will be covered at the summit, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, smart retailing and consumer trends, according to the statement.
