BEIJING, April 3 (Xinhua) -- China has lifted the restriction on the approval of imported online games three months after the country loosened its censorship on domestic online games, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported on Wednesday.
On April 2, China approved about 30 imported online games, signaling that the country has fully resumed licensing for video games.
Among these imported online games, Tencent and NetEase each had one video game approved on Tuesday.
So far, about 11 products of at least 9 game companies listed on China’s Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses have been granted licenses.
Gamelook, a Chinese leading gaming website, believed that the introduction of foreign online games will to some extent solve the problem of insufficient innovative game products and at the same time is conductive to the commercialization of Chinese video game companies.
Besides, these imported online games cover PC, mobile and console games, which wil be meaningful for enriching the domestic market demand.
