The shortage of skilled workers in Germany has become even more acute from industry's point of view. 49 percent of companies have problems filling vacancies, according to a labor market report published by the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK). Last year, the figure was 47 percent. The construction industry is particularly hard hit. This could cause delays, for example, to the expansion of the digital infrastructure. Overall, the potential for growth and innovation is at stake, said AchimDercks, Deputy Managing Director of the DIHK, on Wednesday in Berlin.
