BEIJING, March 21 (Xinhua) – Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited (BOCHK) rolled out agent services allowing Hong Kong residents to open Chinese mainland individual accounts of Bank of China (BOC) together with BOC Guangdong Branch Wednesday, reported Shanghai Securities News.
BOC kicked off the agent service first in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, in a bid to satisfy the growing mobile payment needs of residents in the bay area and promote inter-connectivity of payment and market infrastructure in the area.
On Wednesday, BOCHK and BOC Guangdong Branch witnessed the first case of the kind, whose entire procedure was remarked as being very convenient by a Hong Kong resident.
Currently, despite that a slew of mobile payment tools are available for Hong Kong residents, such as Hong Kong and Macao version of mobile payment service application of UnionPay, Wechat Pay HK, and Alipay HK, many Hong Kong residents still hope they can directly open personal accounts of Chinese mainland-located banks to use more conveniently mobile payment services in Chinese mainland.
