BEIJING, March 21 (Xinhua) – Chinese lender - Huaxia Bank's asset management (AM) department has become a signatory for Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) of the United Nations (UN) recently, reported Shanghai Securities News.
According to the Xinhua-run newspaper, the move marked Huaxia Bank's asset management department being UN PRI's first commercial bank AM department member in the Chinese mainland.
PRI, referring to a set of principles providing a global standard for responsible investing as it relates to environmental, social and corporate governance factors, has drawn over 2,200 institutions from more than 50 countries and regions to sign up for. Its member institutions manage in total over 82 trillion U.S. dollars of assets.
In the Chinese mainland, 23 financial institutions, mainly including public funds and insurers' AM units, have become signatories for the UN PRI. (Edited by Duan Jing, duanjing@xinhua.org)
