BEIJING, March 15 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has recently launched the application for new information consumption demonstration projects of 2019, with an action plan specifying the scope of encouraged projects and supporting measures.
According to the plan, the concept of new information consumption covers five domains, including life information consumption, public service information consumption, industry information consumption, new information products, and supporting platforms for information consumption.
Among new information products, priorities will be given to the innovation and industrial upgrading of 5G, Ultra High-Definition, consumer drones, virtual reality (VR), etc. The development of home appliances based on artificial intelligence (AI) technology, such as intelligent service robots, will also be supported.
In addition, the MIIT decides to accelerate the digitalization of the logistics industry. The use of drones, unmanned vehicles, unmanned sorting, and unmanned warehouses will be promoted, under whole-process supervision realized through Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchains.
The MIIT proposes to actively raise funds for demonstration projects with good prospects, and urges local governments and social investment funds to provide financial support. (Edited by Li Wenxin, liwenxin@xinhua.org)
