The European Investment Bank (EIB) is supporting projects in Schleswig-Holstein with financial resources of around 200 million euros.
The state's investment bank is to promote sustainable growth in the northern German state through low-interest loans, the bank announced in Kiel on Wednesday following the signing of the agreement. Projects worth up to EUR 25 million carried out by municipalities and other public sector entities will be eligible for funding. The funding is earmarked for projects intended to improve living conditions in urban and rural areas.
Over the past 10 years, the EIB has provided 680 million euros of refinancing to the Schleswig-Holstein Investment Bank to support projects such as broadband, schools, nurseries, sewage treatment plants and water treatment plants. The EIB's shareholders are the EU member states.
