BEIJING, March 7 (Xinhua) --- South China's Hainan province has initiated a research project on the construction pattern of "Nanfan Silicon Valley" on March 1, which will integrate scientific research, production, sales, technological exchanges and tourism together.
Nanfan has become China's "Silicon Valley" of agricultural science and technology as well as seed industry.
It is reported that Hainan has basically completed the land transfer of the newly-developed core area of Nanfan Research and Breeding Base.
As one of Hainan's 12 pilot projects for comprehensive deepening reform and opening-up, Nanfan has initially formed industrial layout planning for building a tech city and will start the construction of start-up zone this year. About 20 domestic and foreign leading enterprises have agreed to settling down in the base.
Every year, more than 700 agricultural scientific research institutions and more than 7,000 scientific and technological personnel from all over the country come to work in Nanfan, a base serving as an iconic project in the construction of Hainan pilot free trade zone (port).
