BEIJING, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Zhuhai city in South China's Guangdong province will boost the interconnection with Macao with focus on seven major areas under the framework of the development plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Zhu Qingqiao, deputy mayor of Zhuhai said at a press conference held on March 2 in Guangzhou.
Zhuhai will enhance interconnection with Macao by participating in construction of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao science and technology innovation corridor, accelerating construction of infrastructure linking central cities in the Greater Bay Area in partnership with Macao, and jointly setting up modern industrial systems with focus on biomedical and strategic industries as well as high-end financial services,
Zhuhai will also strengthen ecological conservation and combating pollution, implement policies to help Hong Kong and Macao residents for their better life and employment in Zhuhai, and improve Zhuhai's business environment in alignment with that of Hong Kong and Macao.
Further more, Zhuhai will advance construction of Hengqin demonstration zone in Zhuhai for cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, according to Zhu.
Zhuhai has made progress in pushing forward the construction of the Greater Bay Area. It has been cooperating with Macao in implementing one-off customs clearance for travelers through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and helping young people from Macao to start business through the Hengqin-Macao entrepreneurship base.
