BEIJING, March 1 (Xinhua) -- China produced 1,082 films in 2018 and registered a total box office of 61 billion yuan, showing a respective increase of 19.96 percent and 9.06 percent over the previous year, said Wang Xiaohui, head of the State Film Administration.
Wang made the remarks at the National Film Work Conference held on February 27 and 28 in Beijing.
According to Wang, domestic films accounted for 62.15 percent of the total box office, film viewers in cities increased 5.93 percent to 1.72 billion and the total number of screens reached 60,079 including 9,303 newly added in 2018. (Edited by Tong Wei, tongwei@xinhua.org)
