BEIJING, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) announced Monday that it discovered a gas field with proven natural gas reserves of more than 100 billion cubic meters, the largest discovery in the Bohai bay basin for the last 50 years.
The company got high-yield gas flow in a test of Bozhong 19-6 gas field located at Bozhong sag in Bohai bay basin, reported Shanghai Securities News.
Located just 100 kilometers away from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the new gas field could produce natural gas that can enter market directly through existing pipelines.
The newly discovered large gas reserve is enough for consumption by city with one million residents for up to hundreds of years, according to the report. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuzhe@xinhua.org)
