BEIJING, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Northwest China's Gansu Province achieved a foreign trade value of 3.58 billion yuan in January 2019, with imports and exports totaling 2.22 billion yuan and 1.36 billion yuan respectively, according to statistics from Customs in Lanzhou, capital city of the province.
Data showed that Gansu's imports and exports with countries along the Belt and Road routes grew 31.7 percent to 2 billion yuan in January, taking up 55.9 percent of the province's total foreign trade in this period and 12.9 percentage points higher over the same period last year.
Among these countries, Kazakhstan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) became the first and second largest trading partners of Gansu. The province's imports and exports with ASEAN countries rose 87.5 percent on year to 450 million yuan during this period.
Besides, the province witnessed significant growths in processing-related foreign trade and foreign trade carried out under special supervision. In January, its imports and exports regarding processing trade increased 69.1 percent to 1.29 billion yuan, accounting for 36 percent of its total foreign trade in the period, while its imports and exports under special supervision grew by 2.6 times to 100 million yuan.
In terms of commodities, its exports of labor-intensive products covering textiles and garments notched 240 million yuan in January, up 25 times. Its imports of mineral products in this month amounted to 1.32 billion yuan, up 42.1 percent and accounting for 59.5 percent of its total imports in January. (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
