Chinese company inks over 40 mln USD accord with Ethiopia's grand hydro-dam project -- Chinese construction and engineering company, China Gezhouba Group Co. Ltd. (CGGC), has signed a contract agreement with the Ethiopian government to take part in the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). According to the contract agreement involving 40.1 million U.S. dollars, CGGC will take part in pre-power generation activities of Ethiopia's grand hydro-electric dam, which will be regarded as Africa's largest hydro dam upon completion with a total volume of 74,000 million cubic meters, the Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) revealed on 19 Feb.

PowerChina STECOL inks Rwanda satellite city water supply contract -- PowerChina STECOL Corporation has inked deal with Rwanda water authority for the third section of the six satellite city water supply contract, according to project information provider bhi.com. As an EPC project and with funding coming from African Development Bank, this water supply contract is 2019’s first deal in Rwanda for PowerChina STECOL Corporation. Construction would include installation of various pipelines, as well as pumping houses, reservoirs, and public water intake points in the urban and suburban areas of Rwanda over a period of 18 months.

China Railway Materials Group wins contract to support Hungary-Sebia railway program -- China Railway Materials Group Co. has won bidding for integrated Party A-supplied material agency services for the Hungary-Serbia railway program, the company announced recently. According to the company, it will provide services such as international bidding procurement, field supply organization, base operation management, and international logistics and distribution for the construction of Belgrade-Stara Pazova section of the Hungary-Serbia high-speed rail. Hungary-Serbia railway is the first railway infrastructure project that China has participated in Europe. It is also the key program of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative.

Energy China GPEC signs EPC project agreement on coal-fired power plant in Indonesia -- China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Power Engineering Co., Ltd. (Energy China GPEC) and Rekadaya Elektrika signed a project agreement on constructing a coal-fired power plant in Ambon, Indonesia on February 14, according to www.bhi.com.cn. The project, with the power capacity of 2*15 megawatts, adopts the form of engineering procurement construction (epc) and includes the services such as structure and equipment evaluation, design, existing equipment inspection and maintenance, new equipment purchasing, construction engineering, installation engineering, training and five years of plant operation and maintenance.

Construction on Kroch Chhmar Bridge in Cambodia to be completed by end 2020 -- Construction on the Kroch Chhmar Bridge across Mekong River undertaken by Shanghai Construction Group in Cambodia, is expected to be completed by the end of 2020. With a total length of 1,131 meters, the bridge is located at the border of Tbong Khmum Province and Kampong Cham Province in Cambodia. It is expected to shorten the the distance from the central and northern Cambodia to the eastern Cambodia. The construction of the bridge began in December 2017.

Energy China NEPC signs contract for coal-fired power plant project with Pakistan -- China Energy Engineering Group Northeast No.3 Electric Power Construction co. Ltd., (Energy China NEPC) signed a contract with Harbin Electric Co. for the construction of a 2×66 MW coal-fired power plant in Jamshoro, Pakistan. Located in the northern part of Jamshoro, construction on the project will officially start on August 1, 2019 and is scheduled to be completed on April 28, 2021. The project is an important achievement in response to China's Belt and Road Initiative. After completion, it will be of great significance to meet the growing demand for electricity in the region.

Chinese company wins bidding for power station construction in Iraq -- Tianjin Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd., (TEPC) has won a bidding for an 800MW combined cycle power plant project in Maysan, Iraq, reported local media. The project involves building an 800MW 9F class gas-steam combined cycle unit, which is expected to be completed in 33 months. The project marked the first oversea project TEPC won in 2019 as well as another breakthrough TEPC made in exploring Iraqi Market.
